Underfloor Heating in Meath, Wet Systems Installed

Wet underfloor heating for new builds, extensions, and renovations from €80/m². Compatible with gas combi boilers and heat pumps. RGI registered.

Wet underfloor heating (UFH) uses warm water circulating through pipes embedded in the floor rather than radiators fixed to walls. The result is even warmth at floor level, more usable wall space, and better energy efficiency because the system runs at lower temperatures than a radiator circuit.

Murphy's Plumbing installs wet UFH systems in new builds and extensions throughout Meath. The system is compatible with gas combi boilers, system boilers, and heat pumps.

UFH is particularly well suited to the open-plan kitchen and living areas common in Meath new builds and extensions. For a retrofit in an existing property, it works best where floors are being lifted anyway.

How it works

  1. 1

    Design and quote

Conor calculates the heat load for each zone, designs the pipe layout, and specifies the manifold and controls. A fixed quote is issued before any work begins.

  2. 2

    Pipe installation

Insulation board is laid first to prevent heat loss downward. Pipes are clipped in the designed pattern and the manifold is connected. All connections are pressure-tested before the floor is covered.

  3. 3

    Commissioning

The system is filled, bled, and run at low temperature initially to allow screed or boards to cure. Zone thermostats are programmed and the handover explains day-to-day operation.

Frequently asked questions

How much does underfloor heating cost per m² in Ireland?
Wet underfloor heating installation costs from €80 to €120 per m² for the floor work, depending on layout complexity and floor type. This does not include the manifold, controls, or any boiler upgrade work needed.
Can wet underfloor heating work with my existing combi boiler?
In most cases, yes. A combi or system boiler needs to be capable of running a lower-temperature circuit (typically 35 to 45°C). Conor will assess your current boiler's output and confirm compatibility before installation.
Is underfloor heating suitable for a retrofit or only new builds?
Wet UFH is most practical in new builds and extensions where floors are being laid from scratch, or in renovations where floors are being lifted anyway. In a straightforward retrofit it means raising finished floor levels, which is not always practical.
How long does underfloor heating take to warm a room?
Wet UFH heats up more slowly than radiators, typically 30 to 60 minutes. This is why it is usually set on a timer rather than used on-demand. Once at temperature, the room stays warmer for longer because the thermal mass of the floor retains heat.
Can underfloor heating work under tiles, wood, and carpet?
Yes. Wet UFH works best under tile and stone, which conduct heat well. It also works under engineered timber. Dense carpet and thick underlay act as insulators and reduce efficiency, so very thick carpets are not recommended.
